About the artwork:

Jean-Michel Basquiat, King Pleasure, 1987

King Pleasure was the stage name of a jazz vocalist who began his career as a bartender. His first hit, "Moody's Mood For Love," gained him popularity in 1952. The song was a favorite of the WBLS DJ Frankie Crocker, who played it at the close of his show every night in the 1970s. Jean-Michel's inspiration for this piece came from the vocalist and his father, Gerard Basquiat, who loved the song.

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Evil Thoughts, 1982

Evil Thoughts is a visually striking artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat which he created during what is considered one of his most iconic years, 1982. The piece features a series of words and symbols rendered in a bold, expressive manner, with a central figure that is at once striking yet fragile.
