Reinterpreting the Renaissance: Basquiat Creates 'Leonardo da Vinci's Greatest Hits'

Jean-Michel’s painting “Leonardo da Vinci’s Greatest Hits” showcases his interpretation of some of Da Vinci’s most famous paintings. This includes a version of ‘Vitruvian Man’, depicted by a muscular male figure with outstretched arms, encircled by a halo-like sphere.

Created in 1982, one of Jean-Michel’s most prolific years, the painting was exhibited at the Fun Gallery in NYC’s East Village later that year.
